Executive Director and Founder of Legacy CLD, Ms. PBJ brings passionate dedication to empowering youth through comprehensive leadership development and community service, preparing them for the jobs and careers of tomorrow, understanding personal financial literacy, and maintaining a substance free lifestyle. Many of you may know Ms. PBJ through her founding and sponsor of Vikings Kicking Out Tobacco (VKOT). She founded VKOT in February of 2014 at Bryan High School in Bryan, Texas. She worked with the students to teach them leadership skills, helped them to develop a heart of service, while striving to educate other youth and adults in the community about the harmful effects of substance use. Under her sponsorship, VKOT won the top youth prevention group in Texas in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2024. In 2025, VKOT won the 2025 Community Outreach Award. In 2019, VKOT received the National Youth Advocate of the Year Group Award for the United States, and the students received an all expense trip to Washington, DC to receive their award. She helps students to find their voice in speaking out about whatever they are passionate about. These students learned how to advocate for tobacco prevention. They used their skills in speaking at the Bryan City Council Meetings, where they were successful in helping to get a park ordinace passed in 2018, and led the fight for the passing of a smoke-free ordinance for the city of Bryan in 2019. VKOT played a significant role in pushing for the age to buy tobacco, to be raised from 18 to 21 in Texas. This is just an example of how Ms. PBJ transform youth into dynamic leaders and agents for change.
